With the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Formula One now enters a summer break, not returning until 21st August when the first free practice session gets underway for the Belgian Grand Prix.
Going into the summer break Lewis Hamilton leads the drivers championship from teammate Nico Rosberg by twenty one points. With his win in Hungary, Sebastian Vettel is now forty two points behind Hamilton.
In the constructors championship, Mercedes lead the way ahead of Ferrari and Williams by a considerable margin.
The summer break has recently turned into a partial shutdown for all teams where they will close their factories for the majority of the break, in part to save costs and also allow personnel to spend time with their families. Despite this it is still an important part of the season as it allows teams and drivers time to reflect on the season so far and to focus on bringing new developments to the cars for the latter part of the season.
It’s a perfect time for some relaxation and to recharge the batteries a bit before Formula One heads down the start/finish straight of the season. Although don’t be surprised if rumours continue to surface about the future of some of the drivers during the summer break.
